Bell-Ringer/Ballot Counter

We assign members to meeting roles:

To provide more speaking opportunities for members.

  • To improve our listening skills.
  • To improve the educational quality of our meetings.

The Bell Ringer rings the bell softly to call each speaker’s attention to their use of filler words such as ah, um and inappropriate usage of terms such as “you know” and “like.”

The Ballot Counter tabulates votes for the best Speaker, Evaluator and Table Topics presenter and presents awards in these categories when called to do so near the end of the meeting.

Useful info:

  • Twelve minute video illustrating selected meeting roles:
  • Toastmasters app; timer (turns screen red, yellow and green at appropriate intervals), reports times and speakers’ names to the club Secretary, helps with meeting details. Works on iPhone, Android.
